How to Register for the CEnT-S

You register for the CEnT-S on CISIA’s website in two stages. First, create a free account in the CISIA Student Area and activate it. Then book the test: choose CEnT@UNI or CEnT@HOME, pick a date, and pay €55. Your seat is confirmed once the Payment and Enrolment Receipt appears under Manage Bookings.

Steps checked against CISIA’s booking guide on . CISIA publishes any rule changes for 2026–27 by October 31.

Booking is the easy part. TuttoPrep gets you ready for test day with CEnT-S preparation, temporarily free during open beta (regular price: €8.99 a month billed yearly).

What Should You Check Before You Register?

Read the admission notice for your degree first. It says whether the degree accepts CEnT@UNI, CEnT@HOME, or both, which testing periods count, and the deadline for your score. Pick a date that leaves time for your normalized score to come out before that deadline.

The admission notice (in Italian, bando di ammissione) is the official call for applications a university publishes for each degree. You’ll find it on the degree’s admissions page. You can sit the test at any university’s venue, as long as the result is valid for your degree. What the CEnT-S covers

How Do You Register for the CEnT-S, Step by Step?

Create and activate a CISIA Student Area account, add a passport-style photo, find a date in the CISIA calendar, book the CEnT-S in your Student Area, pay €55, and download your Payment and Enrolment Receipt.

  1. Create your CISIA Student Area account

Fill in the registration form on CISIA’s site:

    • Your name, surname, and date and place of birth.
    • A personal email address you check, not a school address or someone else’s. CISIA sends every update there.
    • No Italian tax code? Tick “I do not have a tax code”.
    • Your mobile number with the international code, starting with 00.
    • Under Select school, choose OTHER if your school isn’t Italian.
    • A disability or specific learning difficulty? Say so at the end of the form.
  2. Activate the account

CISIA emails you an activation link. Click it before you try to book. Nothing arrived? Check your spam folder and the spelling of your address.

  3. Add a passport-style photo

Upload it to your Student Area profile now. Without it, you can’t download the receipt that shows your entry time.

  4. Pick a date in the CISIA calendar

The CISIA calendar shows each test day, its university, whether seats are left, and its booking deadline. Choose one that fits your degree’s deadline. 2026–27 testing periods

Not sure which period leaves you enough time? TuttoPrep’s free plan builds your personalized application checklist, so the CEnT-S sits in the right order with every other deadline. No card needed. Build your checklist free

  5. Book the CEnT-S

Log in to your CISIA Student Area, scroll down the home page, and click CEnT-S. Then:

    • Choose the format your admission notice accepts: CEnT@UNI or CEnT@HOME.
    • Read the rules and terms, and choose a payment method.
    • Use the region, city, and university menus to select your date.
    • Select your student status and click Continue.
    • Check the booking summary, then click Confirm.
  6. Pay €55

Pay by card and the payment completes right away. A MAV bank slip only works with Italian banks and must be paid by the deadline printed on it, or CISIA may not keep your seat.

  7. Download your Payment and Enrolment Receipt

Find it under Manage Bookings once your payment shows as Completed. Your booking is confirmed only when the receipt is there. It shows your entry time, and you need it to get into the test. CISIA’s receipt guide

    Taking CEnT@HOME? Three more things

    • Upload a photo of the front and back of a valid ID, in jpg, jpeg, or png, perfectly legible.
    • Install CISIA’s Horizon app from your Student Area by the day before the test, and put Webex on your phone.
    • Run a test simulation on both devices. CISIA recommends it, and it catches camera and connection problems early.

When Does CEnT-S Booking Close?

In 2025–26, booking closed at 14:00 Italian time six or seven days before each test day: on the Tuesday before a Monday test, and on the Friday before a Friday test. Check the deadline shown next to your date in the CISIA calendar, because CISIA can change it for 2026–27.

Test dayBooking closes, 14:00

TuesdayWednesday before
WednesdayThursday before

FridayFriday before

If a deadline falls on a public holiday, it moves to 14:00 on the next working day. CISIA could also cancel a date with fewer than 250 bookings nationwide, other than the last date of a period, and move you to another one.

Can You Change or Cancel a CEnT-S Booking?

You can’t cancel a booking or get the €55 back. You can change the date, university, or format in Manage Bookings, as long as bookings for the new date are open, seats are left, and your payment shows as Completed.

If you miss your test

Under the 2025–26 rules, the day after a missed test you got a credit to book another CEnT, on another date, at another university, or in another format, up to the last test day of the cycle. Miss that one too and the fee is lost. Unused credit is not refunded.

Booking another attempt

You can take the CEnT-S once per testing period. From the day after your test, you can book one in a later period, as a new booking with a new fee.

A retake costs another €55 and a whole testing period. TuttoPrep’s CEnT-S prep is temporarily free during open beta (regular price: €14.99 a month): topic guides, the question bank, mock exams, and timed drills. Prepare once, properly

How Do You Request Accommodations for a Disability?

Declare your disability or specific learning difficulty when you create your CISIA account, then upload your certification through CISIA’s form. CISIA passes it to each university where you book the test and gives you their contacts, so you can agree on the support you need.

A specific learning difficulty (in Italian, DSA) covers conditions such as dyslexia. If you later book at another university, CISIA moves your certificates there automatically. Where the computer-based test can’t be used, CISIA provides a paper version or other suitable tools.

What Registration Mistakes Should You Avoid?

Most problems come from booking before reading the admission notice, paying by MAV from outside Italy, skipping the profile photo, and leaving the booking until the deadline. Each one can cost you your seat or the €55.

  • Booking before reading the admission notice. You may book a format or a period your degree doesn’t accept.
  • Translating the CISIA site automatically. CISIA asks you to use its English version, so form labels match its guides.
  • Paying by MAV from abroad. MAV only works with Italian banks. Pay by card.
  • Skipping the profile photo. No photo, no receipt, and no entry time.
  • Waiting for the deadline. Seats on a date can run out, and booking closes about a week before.
  • Using a VPN at CEnT@HOME, or sitting the test in a different country from the one you booked.

Does Booking the CEnT-S Apply You to the University?

No. Booking the CEnT-S only books the test. You still apply for your degree through the university’s own portal by the deadline in its admission notice. If you’re a non-EU student who needs a study visa, you also pre-enroll on Universitaly, the Italian ministry’s portal.

Your normalized score appears in your CISIA Student Area after your testing period ends. Your admission notice says how to send it to the university, or whether the university gets it from CISIA. While you wait for test day, build your score with TuttoPrep’s CEnT-S curriculum and question bank.
